Lee  Griffiths  Art and Engraving

I’m not certain, but it’s possible I was born with a pencil in hand. Before moving into farming full-time, my father worked as an engineer when I was a wee one. At the end of his engineering day, he would pull stacks of discarded paper from the waste bin and bring them home so my brothers and I could draw on the unused side. Doodling became a common pastime that quickly turned into a fixation.

A more recent artistic pursuit has been painting. It is really nice to move from a typical two-square-inch engraving canvas to a two-square-foot (or larger) painting canvas. The larger canvas makes painting a bit easier on the neck, shoulders, and eyes, not to mention how enjoyable it is to experiment with different styles and subject matter. I particularly appreciate the opportunity to be looser and impressionistic at times.
